The First Heidelberg XL 106-8-P Ever Installed in Greece

PaperGraph, a family-run Greek printer based in Loutraki and now under its second generation, has put a Heidelberg XL 106-8-P at the heart of its pressroom, together with a matching Heidelberg Suprasetter 106 CTP system — both sourced through allaoui, which also took the outgoing XL 105-4+L in trade.

Dimitris and Pigi Bourdi founded PaperGraph in Loutraki in 1978. Today the company operates from two large production facilities — one in the Industrial Park of Loutraki, the other in Ag. Kosmas, Corinth — alongside offices in Athens, a team of around forty, and more than four hundred active clients across packaging, commercial print, educational and university publishing, and periodicals. More than half of those clients have stayed with PaperGraph for over five years.

An Odyssey to Ithaca

PaperGraph has been on a long, deliberate voyage. The company has been the first in Greece to install one Heidelberg system after another — from integrated color control and registration management, through the Prinect Prinance workflow, to the XL platform itself — and each step set a new ceiling for what Greek offset printing could deliver. Each step also pointed toward the same destination — the press that now sits at the heart of the Loutraki floor.

The 18,000-sheet centerpiece

With the new upgrade PaperGraph now prints four colors on both sides of the sheet in a single pass at a top speed of 18,000 sheets per hour. Heidelberg's proprietary InPress Control holds the result in tolerance from the first sheet of the run.

PaperGraph describes the press in direct terms:

"The first 8-color double-sided Heidelberg XL 106 in Greece, the world's top sheetfed offset press.

It is the press a printer commits to when the work it wins demands no compromise on quality, speed, or finish.

A pressroom built to grow into

Before the press left for Greece, allaoui fitted new ink- and dampening rollers, new perfect jackets, and carried out a full cleaning of the machine. The scope continued on site — from dismantling and transport through installation, commissioning, and operator training. PaperGraph received a press ready to run from day one, not a machine left for them to integrate.

Behind the press sits the new Heidelberg Suprasetter 106, sourced through allaoui along with a pallet loader that facilitates plate feeding. Together they complete PaperGraph's prepress-to-press setup — matched to the flagship already on the floor, and to the journey still ahead. The company isn't standing still; it's growing into the next chapter.
